What is dingMoney?

dingMoney is a simple way to send value to loved ones in back home dingMoney is a digital balance, held in USDB, pegged 1:1 to the US dollar. dingMoney can then be used by a receiver to spend on top-up and vouchers on ding.com, to share with others, and withdraw as cash using our regulated partner, MoneyGram Payment Systems, Inc.

Who provides dingMoney?

Ding has partnered with Bridge and Stripe. All payments made by you as a sender are processed by Stripe Inc., a licenced and regulated money services business.

The receiver’s USDB balance is securely held and converted in a digital wallet by Bridge Building Ark Limited, also a licensed and regulated money services business. The cash-out option is provided by our regulated partner MoneyGram Payment Systems, Inc.

Ding provides the experience – it is not a regulated money services business. All regulated financial services within dingMoney are performed by licensed third-party partners.

Where is dingMoney available?

dingMoney is only available to be sent by senders in the U.S. It can be received by anybody in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador & Mexico who has a phone number and verifies their identity.

How does dingMoney work?

A sender in the U.S. can send dingMoney to a receiver in a dingMoney supported country using just the receiver’s phone number. The receiver will get a text letting them know they have been sent dingMoney with a link to set up their Ding account and verify their identity to claim their dingMoney.

They can then spend their dingMoney on top-up and vouchers on ding.com. They can also withdraw their dingMoney as cash in local currency at a MoneyGram store or share with other Ding users. Conditions will apply.

Who can send dingMoney?

Any sender in the U.S. who has an account with Ding can send dingMoney.

Do I need to verify my identity to send dingMoney?

Depending on how you use the service, we may ask you to confirm a few details (quick check) or verify your identity (full check)

Quick check for smaller or everyday transactions –

You may be asked to:

  • Confirm your phone number or email

  • Enter basic details (like your name or date of birth)

Full check when you have sent more than $500 with Ding –

You may be asked to:

  • Upload your social security number and your ID

We will let you clearly in the app or on screen which check we require.

Verifying your identity helps protect your account, prevents fraud, and makes sure everything runs smoothly when you send dingMoney.

How long does verification take?

Verification usually takes a few minutes; in rare cases it takes a bit longer. If you are having issues completing your verification, please contact Support and we will do our best to get you sorted.

What if I can’t complete verification right now?

You can come back and finish it later, but you won’t be able to send dingMoney until you complete it and you are verified.

You will still be able to send top-up and vouchers.

My verification was not successful. What should I do?

If your verification was not successful, you can try again. Double-check that the details you submitted are correct and up to date.

If you’re still having issues, please contact Support and we will do our best to get you sorted.

Are there any fees for sending dingMoney to a receiver?

There are currently no fees for sending dingMoney to a receiver. If this changes, any fees will be clearly shown.

How are exchange rates handled?

There is no FX applied when you send dingMoney. The sender pays in USD and the dingMoney received is a digital balance, held in USDB, pegged 1:1 to the U.S. dollar. Any local currency amounts shown are estimates only and may vary with daily exchange rates.

When the receiver goes to spend their dingMoney, the USD to local currency exchange rate on that day will apply.

What payment methods are supported for sending dingMoney?

You can pay for a dingMoney transaction using the payment methods available on ding.com at the time (e.g. Visa/Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay). All payments made by you as a sender are processed by Stripe Inc., a licensed and regulated money services business.

How long does it take to complete a dingMoney transaction?

dingMoney is usually delivered instantly. In some cases, please allow up to 15 minutes for the transaction to complete.

Who can I send dingMoney to?

Anybody with a phone number in a dingMoney supported country and who verifies their identity can receive dingMoney.

Is there a minimum amount of dingMoney I can send?

The minimum send amount is $10 per transaction.

Is there a maximum amount of dingMoney I can send?

The maximum send amount is $500 per transaction.

I am sending dingMoney for the first time, how long does my receiver have to claim it?

Where you send dingMoney to a receiver for the first time, the receiver has 5 days to visit ding.com, create an account with Ding and complete identify verification with Bridge to claim their dingMoney.

The receiver only has to do this once. If you send more dingMoney to that receiver, they don’t need to take any steps to accept it.

I have sent dingMoney to a receiver for the first time, what happens if the receiver does not claim it?

If the receiver doesn’t claim the dingMoney you sent within 5 days, the full amount will be automatically returned to your payment method.

I sent dingMoney, it didn’t arrive, who do I contact?

We’re sorry your dingMoney didn’t arrive. Check that the receiver followed the steps to claim the dingMoney you sent. If it still hasn’t arrived,

please contact Ding Customer Support — our team will investigate the issue and if necessary, will coordinate directly with Bridge, our regulated partner, to resolve it.

What can I do if I send dingMoney using the wrong phone number?

You are responsible for ensuring that you input the correct number when sending dingMoney. If the dingMoney has been claimed by the receiver (if it’s a first-time receiver) or it has been credited to the receiver’s wallet, it cannot be cancelled or retrieved.

I sent dingMoney, can I cancel it?

If the dingMoney has been claimed by the receiver (if it’s a first-time receiver) or it has been credited to the receiver’s wallet, it cannot be cancelled or retrieved.

How old do I need to be to receive and use dingMoney?

You must be at least 18 years of age to receive and use dingMoney.

I have received dingMoney, how can I claim it?

When you receive dingMoney for the first time, you will need to visit ding.com, create an account with Ding and confirm your identity with Bridge to claim your dingMoney. This is a requirement of our regulated partner Bridge and is a safety feature to make sure the right person enjoys the value sent.

You have 5 days to complete these steps and claim your dingMoney. You only have to do this the first time you receive dingMoney – if you receive more dingMoney, you don’t need to take any steps to accept it.

What currency is my dingMoney held in?

Your dingMoney is a digital balance, held in USDB, pegged 1:1 to the US dollar. You will see your balance in your local currency – local currency amounts shown are estimates only and may vary with daily exchange rates.

What can I spend dingMoney on?

You can spend dingMoney on all products available on ding.com, such as top-ups and vouchers. You can also withdraw it as cash in your local currency at a MoneyGram store, or share it with other Ding users. Conditions will apply.

How can I cash out my dingMoney?

You can elect to cash out your dingMoney through our regulated partner, MoneyGram by selecting ‘MoneyGram Cashout’ on the App or website.

Enter the amount you’d like to cashout.

Select a pickup location that’s convenient for you.

Pick up your cash - bring your photo ID and reference number.

What is the minimum amount of dingMoney I can cashout?

The minimum cashout per transaction is $15.

What is the maximum amount of dingMoney I can cash out?

The maximum cashout per transaction amount is $1,000.

Can I transfer my dingMoney?

Yes, you can transfer your dingMoney to friends and family in any country where dingMoney is supported.

Just add the phone number of who you want to transfer dingMoney to, and they follow the steps to claim their dingMoney.

How do I top up my dingMoney balance?

You can request more dingMoney from your friends and family using the request feature on ding.com or otherwise contacting them.

How do I check my dingMoney balance? 

You can see your dingMoney balance at any time by logging in to your Ding account.
