Along with UNICIEF Haiti, this quarter we have also partnered with Save the Children in India, in support of their tireless work in helping to address the immediate needs of children across the country.
Save the Children is a global non-profit organization working to improve the lives of children, their families and their communities. They have been operating for over 100 years and in India since 2008.
Like most countries, India has been unable to avoid the lasting impacts of Covid. Although children may not be among the most vulnerable in terms of health risk, the financial impact it's had on communities has made it harder than ever before for families to provide for children.
Part of Save the Children's mission is to ensure children thrive in their local communities. By providing immediate support in terms of food donations, healthcare and psychological support, this aims to ensure children can continue their education and are in a position to thrive later in life.
Our donation will support Save the Children who will provide humanitarian relief to underprivileged children and communities affected by Covid-19, across 13 states and 2 union territories of India.
As part of this initiative the below will be distributed:
Food kits which include essential items like rice, wheat, flour, oil lentils and fresh vegetables.
Hygiene and Covid care kits, which include mosquito nets, first aid kits, soaps, disposable facemasks, vitamins, oximeters and hand sanitiser to help fight the spread of Covid.
Education kits that contain school bags, books, and stationary.
Vaccination support and psycho-social support are also being provided to marginalised communities.
