Meet Naqeeb Shariq, a #DingAmbassador

From Afghanistan and now living in Paris, Naqeeb Shariq is one of our #DingAmbassadors, supporting us on our mission to help those with less, gain access to more.

Naqeeb joined the Ambassador Programme last year and has been spreading the word about mobile top-up online since.

We travelled to Paris and met up with Naqeeb, to discuss life away from home, his journey to France, helping others through social media and all things mobile top-up.

Here’s how we got on:

“Naqeeb, tell us a bit about yourself”

“I’m Naqeeb Shariq. I’m from Afghanistan and now living in Paris, France. I’m working 9-5 in an IT Company here in Paris, and in my free time I use social media as a platform for me to explore my interests as a peace, social and human rights activist. My content offers help and advice to other immigrants trying to settle into life away from Afghanistan. On the weekends I volunteer in community groups and when the time allows me, I like to travel as much as I can!”

“Thanks for sharing. And how did you come to hear about Ding?”

“I first heard about Ding through a friend. When myself and my friends first left Afghanistan, we were on the hunt for ways to both support and stay in touch with our family and friends back home.

When my friend showed me that you can top-up the mobile phones of those back home in Afghanistan instantly, I couldn’t believe it. I downloaded the Ding app that day and have been a user ever since”

“It’s what we’re here for. And then how did you go one step further, and decide to become a #DingAmbassador?”

“I came across an ad for #DingAmbassadors on the Ding Instagram page. When I found out more, I realised this would be an opportunity for me to help my countrymen, through connection in what is a difficult time for all back home.”

“How have you found the Ding ambassador program and being a #DingAmbassador?”

“As I mentioned, being away from family, it’s tough. I’ve really been through it so I know how it feels to be away from home, it’s a shock to the system. To be able to connect with my loved ones easily and instantly with Ding has allowed me to stay in touch with the family and friends I no longer see in person. Thanks to the ambassador programme, I’ve been able to help my followers to do the same. That gives me a great sense of pride. I love the connection that Ding offers. Being an ambassador means that it’s not just me who benefits, I’m helping others stay close to those who they love."

"As well as this, the ambassador support at Ding is amazing. From support on how to make great content on social media, help with increasing my online following, and even offers to support my community & charity organisations. I couldn’t recommend it enough”

Like Naqeeb, millions of people around the world have a need to stay in touch with family and friends back home. Whether that’s a quick “Hello”, or a chat about the latest news back home.
