From Kingston to Montego Bay, Toronto to New York City. You’ve probably either seen or heard Ding ads over the past few days and might be asking yourself, what is Ding?
Back in 2006, Ding started to make sending international top-ups easier. In fact, helping the Jamaican diaspora send top-ups back home was one of the first markets we really focused on.
Today, not only do we help millions of people keep connected in over 150 countries, but we also help people send eGifts back home.
So now, when you ask someone to “Ding Mi Sumn”, it can be credit for your phone, or an eGift for groceries, or the JPS light bill.
If you have family or friends abroad who want to help you stay connected, you can request a top-up from them. Requesting makes their life a lot easier as they are usually more than happy to send support, but might not know how much you need or which mobile operator you are using.
Here’s how to request a top-up when you’re in Jamaica:
Visit the request page on Ding.com
Enter your name and phone number
Enter the verification code
Select and confirm your mobile operator
Copy your request link
Now, you can share this top-up request link with someone who wishes to send you credit. You can do this for both Digicel and Flow in Jamaica.
You can also request a top-up from within the Ding app. We recommend downloading the app whether you are sending or receiving top-ups, as you’ll often find great discounts that might otherwise be missed.
To help the Jamaican diaspora send even more support back home, we launched eGifts. eGifts are digital gift cards that can be sent internationally from anywhere in the world to Jamaica.
The Ding eGift range includes:
For groceries, popular stores like Progressive Foods and HiLo Food Stores mean those who’ve moved abroad can help out with essential groceries even when living far away. 7Krave and Island Grill vouchers can be sent for special occasions while other essentials like paying the JPS bill or helping pay for medicines through Fontana Pharmacy are also proving popular.
Every time a top-up is sent through the Ding network, 1c gets donated to worthy causes. We support a wide range of causes and charities every year. This year included The Digicel Foundation which is supporting in the rebuilding efforts following the devasting effects of Hurricane Beryl.
When you send a top-up with Ding, not only are you supporting family and friends, but you are supporting communities that need it too.
So if you're in Jamaica and need a little support from a loved one, ask them to Ding You Sumn today.
