Our donation in Q3 was divided between supporting Afghan NGOs with mobile top-up in response to the unrest there, and our ongoing partnership with UNICEF to support their humanitarian response in Haiti.
Thanks to our users, it was a hugely impactful three months and we were able to provide immediate support to those in need.
As the Afghan crisis unfolded, it became clear that keeping people connected on the ground was vital to the situation.
We were in a position to get to work right away and through our NGO partners we were able to provide mobile top-up directly to people on the ground.
Phone credit was distributed among journalists, NGO staff, teachers and displaced Afghans. It was a huge validation for how important and impactful our top-up service can be for people in times of crisis.
As many of our customers know, Haiti was devastated by an earthquake earlier in the year and the impact of this has been compounded with escalating violence on the streets.
As a result, the need for food and healthcare supplies for the most vulnerable has not disappeared.
Thanks to Ding's close relationship with UNICEF, we were able to quickly send funds which led to the purchase of therapeutic milk cans, food packs and health supplies to diagnose malnourished children.
