Leaving home is never an easy decision and yet every year millions of people migrate from their home country and relocate abroad.
For Ding user Rino, leaving India was a choice he felt he had to make.
“The only reason I left India was for better job prospects,” he says.
“It was a hard decision to leave home and move to another country, but sometimes you need to make that call if you want to chase your dreams.
“When you go back home, you realize that you have missed those crammed streets, the commotion around you, the people etc. Living in Dubai, I even miss the rains!
“[However] I miss my parents the most. As they have grown old, I sometimes wish that I was with them through this journey of life.”
Having lived in Dubai with his wife for nine years, Rino knows the hardship of maintaining long-distance relationships as well as supporting friends and family back home.
“My parents are settled in India and just like any other Indian expat we send a portion of our earnings to India. My mom would use a teeny-weeny amount for their purchases which included topping-up her mobile.
“Since me and mom are very close to each other, she makes it a habit to call me often which happens to be an [international] call for her. And just because of this she runs out of credit easily.”
However, it was not long before Rino found a way around this. Instead of his mother taking money out of the monthly remittances Rino would send to her and manually topping-up her phone, he discovered he could separately send her credit online whenever she needed it.
“It was sometime back that I read about Ding while I was searching for an online site which can top-up mobile phones in India.
“What surprised me was the ease of use and how quickly I could complete the transaction using the app. Within minutes I received a call from my mom asking if I had transferred credit to her phone.
“[I was] a bit surprised as to how quickly she received the credit. I told her that I had found this app which can easily top-up phone balances in India.
“And then there was no turning back. I have been using Ding for a year now and will continue to do so.”
