5 things all Muslims look forward to during Eid

5 things all Muslims look forward to during Eid

Eid al Adha means different things for different people.

As many Muslims live away from home, this celebration can be very different to how they remember it growing up.

Millions of Muslims all over the world prepare for Eid, which translates as the festival of the sacrifice, this a holiday that many are looking forward to.

Here are 6 things most Muslims will be anticipating during this important holiday:

Family

Lasting four full days, Eid is synonymous with gathering family, friends and loved ones close for these anticipated few days.

The first day of Eid usually starts early and, after morning prayers, involves sharing gifts and precious time with loved ones.

How can you not look forward to that?

Prayer

Most importantly, Eid is a holy time which is spent showing respect to those around you and engaging in prayer.

As Eid commemorates Abraham's willingness to obey God’s demand to sacrifice his son, Ismail, this time is spent declaring one’s dedication to Islam.

Food

While the menu can vary from country to country, Muslims know that Eid means a tonne of food.

And we mean A LOT of food.

Gathering loved ones together to feast is one of the highlights of the holiday. Lamb and goat tend to be popular choices for meat but while Pakistan may prepare a biryani, you’re more likely to get a tagine in Morocco. Yum!

Clothes

On Eid, you show up in your finest.

The days (and in some cases weeks) in the build-up to Eid involves buying brand new garments to show off on the big day.

By outfit, we also usually mean numerous outfits to last the entire holiday. If you can’t turn it out on Eid then when can you?

Sharing

One of the most important aspects of Eid is sharing with your neighbor and providing for those less fortunate then you. This can come in the form of money or food from the table and is an important aspect of the holiday.#

This is a special time that many Muslims look forward to.

What better way to celebrate everything you have than by sharing it with someone else.

This Eid, why not show someone you care by sending them a top up. Send an Etisalat Afghanistan top up today!
