Kai is a German native. His wife and daughter recently moved to Cuba and the move has been tough for the family but not least for Kai’s daughter. This is his Ding story entry.
Before Kai’s family went to Cuba they lived in Germany for 13 years. This has meant a big change for Kai’s daughter. He says: “There are very few activities for young people in the town, which is in rural Cuba. There is no internet or cinema and she doesn’t like salsa music (just yet) so she is finding it quite difficult to adjust.”
But each day Kai tries to help his daughter adjust. Ding has helped Kai to play a role in the life of his daughter even though they are miles apart and separated by distance.
Kai explains; “As I am retired, I can’t travel very often. I can’t speak to her daily as calling Cuba is very expensive but Ding has helped us a lot to communicate.”
