A slow start to love: Andrea

A slow start to love: Andrea

Andrea recalls: “On September 11th, 2009 I met my now husband in the Malecón de la Habana, in Cuba. We are not married yet, but I feel as we were.”

Andrea was sent on a working trip to Cuba from her home in Panama and was out celebrating her birthday when she met a group of musicians. Yaumir was the last one to arrive carrying a bongo. “With black curly hair and a lovely smile I was instantly in love.” She says.

Yaumir took Andrea’s mobile number despite the fact he did not have a phone and she though it would be the first and last night we saw each other. However, this did not stop Yaumir despite the poor communication in Cuba. Each day Yaumir would queued daily for 3 at an internet café just to send a simple message to Andrea but day by day, patiently, we texted each other

6 years on and Andrea says the distance has been difficult maintaining the communication is easy with Ding. When Yaumir has no credit Andrea tops-up his phone.“This why I love Ding so much it’s easy and fast.”
